He proclaimed that the technology is no longer just about incremental improvements but is making a giant leap towards an era he dubbed the 'Agentverse'. In this new era, AI agents will be the driving force behind unprecedented productivity, reshaping how we interact with technology and each other.
Zhao emphasized the need for the ICT industry to collaborate and lay the groundwork for this transformation. He outlined three key strategies to achieve this:
Interconnected Smart Devices for Intelligent Interactions: The next phase of mobile AI will rely on devices that can communicate seamlessly. Phones, cars, and home appliances will need to integrate 5G-A and agent capabilities, creating a connected ecosystem. This system should not only understand its surroundings but also respond in real-time, enabling smarter automation in everyday scenarios.
Versatile AoNR Networks for Multidimensional Agent Experiences: AoNR networks are crucial for supporting AI training and real-time inference. These networks must deliver Giga Uplink, High Reliability, High Concurrency, and High Duration to ensure a seamless and immersive agent experience. The China Communications Standards Association (CCSA) and the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) have introduced the AI-MOS standard to measure this experience quality, mirroring the mean opinion scores (MOS) used for voice quality assessment.
Diverse Models for Multimodal Intelligent Applications: Companies need models tailored to specific scenarios to unlock new commercial opportunities. This requires networks that can provide computing power on-demand, coupled with an efficient, well-distributed computing infrastructure, ensuring access to these resources anywhere.
Zhao concluded by stating that creating an Agentverse requires a unified industry effort to build an AoNR network through standards, ecosystem development, and value innovation.
