Get ready for a hilarious musical adventure as the Broadway production of Schmigadoon! welcomes a stellar cast! But wait, there's a twist! This town isn't your typical destination.
The Story: Two New York doctors, Josh Skinner and Melissa Gimble, embark on a backpacking trip to revive their relationship, but they stumble upon Schmigadoon, a magical town straight out of a Golden Age musical. The residents are perpetually singing, the bridge leads to nowhere, and the only escape is through true love—a quest that might bring the doctors closer or drive them apart.
The Cast: The talented ensemble includes Alex Brightman and Sara Chase as the leading couple. But here's where it gets interesting: Ana Gasteyer, known for Saturday Night Live, plays Mildred Layton, a nosy and morally upright character. Ann Harada reprises her role from the Apple series as the mayor's wife, Florence Menlove. Brad Oscar, a Tony Award nominee, takes on the role of the charming yet secretive Mayor Menlove. Isabelle McCalla portrays Emma Tate, a modern woman struggling to fit into the town's rigid expectations. Ayaan Diop, making his Broadway debut, brings laughter as the lovable Carson. Ivan Hernandez, a screen and stage veteran, plays Doc, the attractive but cold-hearted town doctor. Max Clayton stars as the rebellious Danny Bailey, who sets his sights on Melissa. McKenzie Kurtz plays Betsy, the farmer's daughter smitten with Josh.
More Talent: The production also welcomes Afra Hines, Becca Petersen, Brandon Block, Clyde Alves, Jess LeProtto, Joshua Burrage, Kaleigh Cronin, Keven Quillon, Kimberly Immanuel, Lauralyn Mcclelland, Lyrica Woodruff, Maria Briggs, Miles McNicoll, Nathan Lucrezio, Richard Riaz Yoder, Shina Ann Morris, and Zachary Downer as additional residents of Schmigadoon.
Creative Team: This production boasts an impressive creative team, including Lorne Michaels, known for Saturday Night Live, and is based on the award-winning Apple series. The hilarious book and Emmy Award-winning score are by Cinco Paul, with direction and choreography by Tony Award-winner Christopher Gattelli. The production design features Scott Pask's sets, Linda Cho's costumes, and Donald Holder's lighting, among other talented designers.
Production Details: Schmigadoon! begins previews on April 4 and opens on April 20 at the Nederlander Theatre, running through September 6. And this is the part most people miss—the show is produced by Lorne Michaels, Micah Frank, and Caroline Maroney for Broadway Video, alongside Christine Schwarzman and Megan O'Keefe for No Guarantees Productions.
