1348 Ex Voto is an action-adventure title that transports players back to the tumultuous year of 1348 in medieval Italy. The game follows the protagonist, Aeta, voiced by Alby Baldwin, as she embarks on a perilous quest across the Italian Peninsula to locate her dear companion, Bianca (voiced by Jennifer English), after their village is attacked by ruthless bandits.
This project marks the debut of Sedleo, a newly established studio led by Tom Oceano, the game director, and Fabiola Martelli, the studio director. Together, they assembled a talented team of veterans from the gaming industry to bring their vision of immersive storytelling and high-quality gameplay to life.
Choosing Italy as their focal point was a natural decision for the Sedleo team. They dedicated considerable time exploring the rural landscapes of the peninsula to capture the essence of the environments they wanted to recreate, ensuring that the game world would reflect the authenticity and historical accuracy needed for their narrative.
The year 1348 was deliberately selected as it represents a significant and dark period in Italian history. With the spread of diseases, social instability worsened, leading to rampant violence from bandits and mercenaries. Religious zealotry also plagued the region, while those in power struggled to maintain control over the increasingly chaotic society.
In this grim setting, players will step into the shoes of Aeta, a young noblewoman whose life is turned upside down when she loses contact with Bianca during a bandit raid. Drawing on her training as a knight, Aeta takes it upon herself to rescue her friend, embarking on a challenging journey filled with combat and exploration throughout medieval Italy.
